How It Works

This calculator projects dividend income and portfolio growth over time, with and without dividend reinvestment (DRIP).

Annual Dividend = Shares Owned x Dividend Per Share

New Shares (DRIP) = Annual Dividend / Current Share Price

Dividend Per Share grows at the Dividend Growth Rate each year

  • Dividend Yield = Annual dividend / Share price (initial yield)
  • Dividend Growth Rate = Annual increase in dividend payments
  • DRIP = Dividends automatically buy more shares, compounding returns
  • Share Price is assumed to grow at the dividend growth rate

With DRIP enabled, dividends buy additional shares each year. Those new shares then earn dividends the following year, creating a powerful compounding effect that can dramatically increase your total return over long holding periods.
